OKAYY I love this look feat. a pleated blue maxi skirt + red camisole + mary jane heels. Mary janes are like that super old school shoe that always looks kind a ole timey but at the same time always kinda relevant. But anyways, I digress. Lately I’ve been craving lots of color — this long blue maxi skirt has been a staple in my closet this spring because it’s so versatile! I’ve worn it out at night, as well as on Easter Sunday. I decided on a bright red top to act as a contrast against the chevron waist band. Love how a maxi skirt like this makes your legs look a million miles long. I’m tall to begin with (5’11 holla), but this look really elongates my frame. I ain’t complaining.
Michael shot these for me in Pensacola when I was visiting him. It was SO hot with the Florida sun beating down and we didn’t really know what we were doing with my DSLR camera (just got it), but YOLO!
A few notes on styling:
Another thing to remember with a look like this is not only does a long/high waisted maxi skirt elongate your legs, but it can also create and define a waste. Try tucking in a looser top into the waist band of your maxi skirt. Bonus points if the waistband of your skirt is thick and of solid material — this will make the look even more flattering.
I always like to pair a little vintage with each outfit. It just makes everything have a more personal touch and a little less *fast fashion mass produced* feel. Here I’m wearing my mom’s gold charm bracelet that she had in high school. It’s so cool how one of the charms is a grand piano and now my mom is a full-time piano teacher.
