I picked up this darling plaid shirtΒ on Black Friday. I swore I wouldn’t go shopping because it’s just too crazy out but Michael and I ventured to the mall and I fell in love with this shirt. It has a feminine fit and the fabric is very thin — perfect for winter layering.

When I was home in Ohio we went to our local Christmas tree farm & sawed down a beautiful Christmas tree. It was special because my brother and husband Michael were there as well! And of course Shadow accompanied us. Live trees are so much more work than a fake tree but they are just so magical. What do you guys think — do you prefer a live or a fake tree? Full disclosure my parents are having a live tree this year (the one we cut down in these photos) but I think Michael and I may just get a fake tree. Michael is gone for the next couple weeks and I am sooo ready to get the house ready for Christmas so I plan on just ordering a fake one!

I have pictures of cutting down a tree at this Christmas tree farm from last year here πŸ™‚ Both times plaid was involved! Haha I swear in the winter time (and LBH summertime too) I wear so much plaid I’m like a character from an Outlander novel. Who else has read/seen Outlander? It makes me want to visit Scotland so bad!

Wishing you all a great week πŸ™‚ So grateful for all of you.

These photos seriously look like they are straight out of an L.L. Bean catalog! I love all of the greenery! I SO wish we could make this a part of our yearly traditions but of course, the ONE thing my hubby is allergic to are Christmas trees!!!

I don’t know what I’m more in love with about this post. Your outfit or Shadow!! I’m sorry babe, but I’m a sucker for German Shepherds so I must go with Shadow as I’ve had three German Shepherds when I grew up and miss them so (they’ve been in doggie heaven for a good 15 years or so now). But with that said, I DO love you tree cutting outfit too, haha.

I have to admit I’m totally jealous! Growing up, my family always went to a tree farm, and I vaguely remember my dad cutting the trees down and putting them on the top of our van to bring home and decorate. Then as I got a little older, we began to get them from in front of grocery stores or the mall, which was fine, but not as special. Now we just have an artificial tree, and I so badly miss the scent of the fresh tree and the way the sap is so sticky and the comforting feeling it all brings to the house. Sighhhhh haha. These are the cutest photos! Love that you got some fun shots while you were tree hunting!
