Campfires are seriously the best. Growing up, campfires were always a summertime and autumn staple. As kids I don’t think we cared about getting bit by mosquitos or if there was adequate seating around the fire circle — we just cared about getting the s’mores!
I have so many fond memories of talking around campfires in high school with friends when there was nothing else to do, and more recently drinking margs around a campfire or two with friends down in Mississippi!
I am fully convinced that every occasion can (and sometimes should) be an elegant affair — campfire gatherings included! These are a few of my favorite ways to make a campfire feel like a glam and posh event.
Second video for JE ever right here! This video was so much fun to make. I have a feeling you will be seeing a lot more videos on Jassamine Elaine in the future! Check out the vlog below and keep reading to see how you can make your next campfire gathering the glam event you’re craving 🙂
One // Seating
If anyone can make foldable camping chairs look elegant, please let me know!! Ditch the plastic folding chairs and opt for something a little more rustic. Large logs make fabulous chair alternatives and really go with the theme. Of course these may be hard to come by if you aren’t always splitting your own wood. Think outside the box — do you have any cool benches? or stools? These will work too. Frame the seating around the fire pit.
Two // Plush Details
You want this event to feel posh — so there should be some type of soft texture entwined throughout the decor. I used sheepskins on the logs to make them feel more comfortable and to add a hint of luxury. I really love the contrast of the soft rug with the bark! If you don’t have sheepskins on hand, different folded quilts carefully draped would work great as well! Whenever you’re hosting an event, your number one priority should be your guests comfort. Make sure to have a blanket or two nearby in case the night turns chilly!
Three // Presentation
By the time your guests arrive, everything should be ready to go so you can enjoy the evening! With a campfire, there will be maintenance needed throughout the evening. Make sure you have enough wood cut and gathered and conveniently located near the fire pit. S’mores are a necessity so make sure you have ingredients on hand! It’s no fun digging for a crumbled graham cracker in the bottom of the box — arrange all the necessary s’mores ingredients on a large platter. Not only will this make it more convenient for everyone, it will make even the marshmallows look like a delicacy! Also, wine is always a good idea 😉
Four // Staging
The little extra details will really make your guests feel like they’re in a rustic oasis instead of a suburban neighborhood! Carefully arrange the split logs you have already gathered (see step three) by the fire pit in an organized fashion instead of a jumbled mess. Did you recently split them with an ax? Or haul them to the fire pit using a wheelbarrow? Leave these items in view (this will also help frame the circle more!). Make sure you have a blanket on hand in case it gets chilly (see step two) and carefully drape it over something. Designate a “table” for the evening that all the goodies will be on and make sure to have any necessary glassware on hand (if serving drinks). Music always helps set the tone for a party — I use these wireless speakers and swear by them (I have the mint green color! My mom has it too).
If you loved this post, please share it with a friend! If you plan on having a campfire with friends soon, I’d love to hear about it! I hope you all have the best day 🙂
