We recently discovered a new park (new to us, at least) near our house and I’m obsessed. We went there this week for a meadow hike with our dog, Shadow.
Usually we have to drive more North to get any kinda of wide open spaces + mountains, so I was THRILLED when I found this place.
Since Shadow was diagnosed with her eye disease last summer, I feel like she hasn’t been getting as many walks 🙁 With her eye disease (pannus) she has to wear goggles in sunlight, because the sun can cause vision loss for her. BUT. Her eye doc said that after about 6:30pm, the sun is weak enough for her to go out in it. (which is when we took these pics). She’s like a vampire dog!! If she has to go out in sunlight during the peak of the day, she wears goggles.
While we were out I was behind the camera (which is a rarity) and snapped some pics of Michael. I love taking pics of him.
The lighting was so gorgeous, and the meadow reminded me SO MUCH of that scene from the movie “Gladiator”. Do you guys know which one I’m talking about? In it, Russel Crowe is slowly walking through the meadow and he puts his hand out very melodramatically (I guess it’s called for considering the movie) and moves his hand along the wheat or whatever.
OK so the meadow we were in looked *just like that* so I had Michael recreate the scene 😂 (see below LOL)
a little update
Not much new around here, just getting ready for some travel. We’re going to Kentucky for about a week in early summer & I CAN’T WAIT. I just booked the cabin we’ll be staying at while we’re in Red River Gorge. It’s going to be so much fun. I grew up in Ohio, but I always love visiting Kentucky because it has some of my favorite things — horses and bourbon.
I hope you guys have a great week — as always, thank you SO much for reading and following along! It means the world.
