This is a fun look that I was playing around with last week. Maybe I’m having Game of Thrones withdrawal (is anyone else??) but lately I love playing with my hair and styling it like Cersei Lannister, ha! A couple weeks ago I did a full post on the hair extensions I use, which you can find here. I so wish I naturally had super thick mermaid hair but I just don’t. Part of the problem is I always want my hair to grow out long but then I can’t resist the urge to cut it! Ugh. So using extensions has been a lot of fun and really helps me create princess-esque hair.
So for this hairstyle I just clipped in my extensions like normal. IMO Amber Fillerup has the best tutorials on hair, especially hair with extensions. A basic video of clipping in extensions can be found here. For this look, I left some extensions out and used that to braid a little headband. I then teased my hair in the back and swept my hair back. Looking at the photos, I would tease my hair less because I think I’m in dangerous territory of looking like Snookie from the Jersey Shore!
The biggest drawback of having fine hair is the lack of volume. A few of my favorite ways to get volume are using a plumping mousse (this one is my fav), and dry shampoo. Dry shampoo is seriously a miracle worker. This is my favorite because it’s specifically tinted for brunette hair.
Okay if you frequent lots of fashion blogs I’m sure you’ve heard about the #Nsale! It’s the Nordstrom anniversary sale. This sale is unique because new fall items are on sale featuring a lot of brands that hardly every go on sale. Early access started almost a week ago but I’ve been holding out until public access starts on this Friday, July 22!! I’ve been marking my favorite items and cannot wait to stock up on fall essentials.
For those who have already shopped the #Nsale — what did you order?? If your items have arrived already, what are you totally in love with? I want to know! I really want to order Tory Burch riding boots but I’m still on the fence about it. To be continued!
