I’ve been out of college for a year now and I’m not going to lie I am so envious of everyone going back to school!! When you’re in school you of course get so tired of all the exams and crazy schedules and studying… but looking back it was the best. Â Who knew I would miss writing papers?! I’m living vicariously through everyone who’s hitting the books and wore this back-to-school outfit this week.
Like most college students, when I was at Miami University I had barely any time to think about what I was going to wear, let alone wash my hair (dry shampoo for the win…).
In order to simplify my life I created kind of a capsule wardrobe I would turn to whenever I was in a rush (which LBH was ALWAYS).
If you’re a college student, these are a few my go-to wardrobe solutions that I think you will love!
(totally sans makeup)Â
Button Down Shirts & Dresses
Button down shirts are a life saver because they instantly add polish to any look! There are so many ways you can play around with them (I have a post on that here). Oversized button downs will give you the most comfort and versatility. If they’re long enough you can pair them with leggings or jeans. You can button them to the top, cinch them with a belt, or throw on a scarf. I have a million button downs in my closet and most of them are from the thrift store. Unless it’s a truly unique button down you found at the mall, I would hit your local thrift store for them. I’ve found plenty Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren button downs at my local thrift store for only a few dollars each.
Perfectly Undone Hair
Dry shampoo is life. It adds volume, texture, and revitalizes hair in a minute. I’ve tried (almost) all of them and my current fav is this one. It smells so good and a little goes a long way. For women with fine hair like myself, dry shampoo will help you achieve those voluminous ponytails and messy buns you’ve been craving.
Slip-on Flats
The perfect flat should feel like a Ked but look much more chic. Two piece flats allow lots of freedom of movement but add a lot of polish to any look. Look for flats you can slip on in a hurry. The flats I’m wearing can be found here.
Versatile Tote
I haven’t carried a backpack to school since the 7th grade (hopefully I haven’t messed up my shoulders by doing this! lol). If you’re not into backpacks either, a large roomy tote is perfectly capable of carrying all your books, planner, and other necessities.  The beauty of a tote is you can go straight from class to dinner and not have to worry about lugging around a cumbersome and ugly backpack. I carried this tote (pictured above) all over DC during my internship last summer and it has shown literally zero wear. The nylon is super durable and it zips!
Wishing you all the best long weekend!
