It’s kind of funny I’m finally sharing our master bedroom like 3 weeks before we move across the country and we have a whole other house to decorate! BUT. I wanted to share this room because it’s *hopefully* the last rental home we’ll be living in for a while. While we were in California last week (full post on that HERE) we saw a ton of homes all over San Diego. After a week of looking we put an offer on a gorgeous house and it was accepted! This is our first time buying a home and the closing process is already in full swing. Ahhhhh I’m so excited! Obviously home ownership comes with a lot of responsibility but it will be a great feeling to know we can truly grow into our home and make it ours.
But anyways. For now we’re talking about decorating rental homes. Michael and I have been in and out of rental homes as he pursued his flying career all over the south. I know the struggle is real to make a rental home work with your decorating style — and that’s why I love to share my rental home decorating pictures with you guys! I’ve always gotten inspired seeing what other people create with the limited parameters of rental home decor.

We’ve been really fortunate to live in a rental home with beautiful cool-toned walls. The only downfall is it can get super monotonous and just plain boring. I love the look of all white everything but IMO it becomes a little too blah when there’s absolutely no color on the walls.
I was bored to tears with our master bedroom this spring because there was no color or drama. So obviously I drove to Home Goods (not #sponsored, just obsessed) and picked up a few items with one of the more dramatic colors I could find — dark charcoal grey. Which of course doesn’t even look that dramatic when paired against all white walls!
I painted my equestrian trunk and Michael’s oversized dresser a dark charcoal grey from Behr (name of the paint is CARBON COPY). I bought cheap charcoal curtains, a faux fur grey throw, and a white faux fur pillow from Home Goods. I picked up our new bed (!!) super cheap HERE. Amazing quality for the price. Paint is so cheap and it makes such a huge difference! I honestly couldn’t believe how much our room changed after painting + new curtains + new bed frame.
