But guys, I don’t know if there’s enough faux fur happening in these photos??
I went to Ohio about two weeks ago and had the absolute best time with family. It was so good to spend some time in my hometown and remember my roots. Not to mention get totally spoiled by my mom.
She has been so EXTRA lately. You may have seen it on Instagram Stories, but she was just so on top of things. She ordered a whole cake for me that said “Welcome Home Katie”. Yes, a welcome home cake. She got a faux fur throw for my bed because she knows if I could, I’d wear faux fur 24/7. The day of my arrival she casually sewed a new lampshade for the light on my desk. Who sews their own lampshades?? Apparently my mom does.
But anyways. Going back to Ohio (where I was born & raised) made me realize just how underrated Ohio is. Over the past two years I’ve been gotten to live in Mississippi, Virginia, and now California. Living in these states (briefly, for sure) really opened my eyes to what a sweet deal Ohio is. So excuse me for a hot second while I brag on my home state.
Ohio is the perfect mix of country + city. So much of the state is rural, but you’re never that far away from a cool town or city. Personally, my favorite town in Ohio is obviously OXFORD! Home of Miami University (Love & Honor). Can you tell I’m an alum??
At times Ohio can feel like you’re living in a real-life country song. Growing up in high school I had my horse and spent a lot of time at the barn. My dates in high school consisted of driving up and down the country roads and listening to “Big Green Tractor” by Jason Aldean. I’m not making this up.
But on the flip side, a lot of towns/cities in Ohio have vibrant night life scenes. Dayton has the Oregon District and Cincinnati has just SO many options. I even had my overnight bachelorette party in Cincinnati because there’s just so much fun there.
When I landed in Ohio there was snow on the ground which was AMAZING. Love that my home state has all four seasons.
And of course there are a lot of other reasons why Ohio is so great — ummm SWING STATE. Cheap cost of living. No traffic. Everything is within 5 minutes. Easy access to lots of vacation spots, etc etc etc. But I won’t bore you all to tears.
Ok signing off now because I need to go drink my aloe vera water and watch The Bachelor. Xx, K
